Bakersfield, Ca.- Larry Koman’s BBQ for Our Homeless at the Open Door Network, formerly the Bakersfield Homeless Center will once again create a day where the less fortunate can get a little respite from their stressful lives.  Participants will receive a nice barbeque meal, some light entertainment, and the opportunity to enjoy a worry-free day.

“What started as a few friends and our barbeque trailer, we went to the (then) Bakersfield Homeless Center to try to bring a little joy to our homeless” exclaimed event founder Larry Koman.

Koman, a local businessman and member of the Bakersfield City Planning Commission felt that something needed to be done to reach out to those in need. ” Now more than ever, I want the women and children who reside at the Open Door Network to take a break from their daily struggles”.

Now in its fourth year, Larry and his team of volunteers will serve up a great Tri-Tip meal and hot dogs for the kids.

In addition, cozy blankets and hand sanitizer will be given to all the residents. For the kids, Larry will have Halloween treat bags and stuffed animals for children under 5.

Special thanks Rosco Rolnick and Guarantee Shoe Center for their donations.

Special acknowledgement to Josh Wall at Insurica, Don Bynum from Temblor Brewing and Jim and Nona Darling for their assistance providing food again this year.
