Open House planned for March 29 at Eligon Venue & Social Collective; see what future development could look like

MARCH 26, 2025 — The City of Bakersfield continues its work to revitalize Old Town Kern, promoting economic development and housing opportunities while preserving the cultural heritage and history

of the area. And now, we need the public’s help!

The City’s Economic & Community Development Department (ECD) will host an open house for the public to learn more about the Old Town Kern Vision Plan and provide feedback. They will have an opportunity to visualize and get a feeling of what the future development of Old Town Kern could

look like.

What: Old Town Kern Vision Plan Open House.

When: 1:30 – 5 p.m., Saturday, March 29.

Where: The Eligon Venue & Social Collective (307 21st Street).

This event is free and open to the public. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

The open house will begin with our “Old Town Kern Stories” with select community members sharing personal stories and experiences about Old Town Kern. Attendees will be able to explore presentation boards showing different aspects of the vision plan, including renderings of potential developments along Sumner Street and Baker Street. City and consultant staff will be available to

answer questions, discuss ideas, and gather public feedback.
